The U.S. Mission in Addis Ababa is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of Political Specialist in the Political & Economic Section, USAU Office in Ethiopia.
BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION
As the senior local political advisor to USAU, serves primarily the Political/Economic Section in support of the reporting officers and the front office. Reports directly to the Political/Economic Counselor. Drafts political reports and cables on the full range of issues related to the African Union and its 55 members, as well as multinational, regional, and national issues that serve to inform U.S. policy makers. Also reports on African Union issues that are currently or have the potential to come before the UN and in particular the UN Security Council. Creates and cultivates contacts with AU Commission officials, officers at AU member state and third country embassies in Addis Ababa, the wider diplomatic community including the UN system, and with pertinent scholars and opinion makers.
